CROCK POT HONEY SESAME CHICKEN

Love Chinese Food? Then you are really going to love these easy to make recipe. Crock Pot Honey Sesame Chick is ridiculously tasty, simply, cheap and might even be better that your local takeout restaurant.  It’s a family friendly recipe that will become a favorite. Enjoy!

o Preparation time: 10 minute(s)   o Cooking time: 2-4 hours   o Number of servings (yield): 6

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thighs work too), diced into one inch cubes
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 cup honey
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce, gluten free
  • ½ cup diced onion
  •  ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil {substitute vegetable oil or canola oil if needed}
  • 2 cloves garlic, mined
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes ( this is optional – it adds more flavor and not heat)
  • 4 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 6 tablespoons hot water
  • Sesame seeds
  • 1-2 scallions {green onions} finely chopped
  • I served the chicken over rice, but you could do vegetables or noodles as well.

Instructions

  1. Once your chicken is cubed, lightly season with salt & pepper and put in crock-pot.
  2. In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, onion, oil, pepper flakes, and garlic. Pour over the chicken.
  3. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1 ½ - 2 ½ hours or until chicken is cooked all the way through.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, remove the chicken, cover and set aside. Leave the sauce in the crock pot.
  5. In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch into 1/4 cup hot water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with the sauce.
  6. Replace lid and let simmer on HIGH for 10 more minutes  or until the sauce thickens.
  7. Turn off the heat and re-add the chicken to the sauce, stirring to coat.
  8. Serve over basmati or jasmine rice.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions as desired.

ENJOY!!
